Frequently Asked Questions
Inspira spirulina vs. greens powders — what's the difference?
We're not a powder. Greens powders are heated, dried, and oxidized long before they hit your shelf, and most are proprietary blends of a dozen cheap ingredients you can't verify. Inspira is one ingredient — raw spirulina, flash-frozen at harvest and never heated above 34°F — so the fragile compounds that make spirulina work are still intact when you drink it.
Do I need a greens supplement?
Honestly, no. If you're already eating five servings of vegetables a day and you feel great, you don't need ours or anyone else's. Most people aren't, though, and one pod a day is a simpler way to close that gap — plus you get the phycocyanin and antioxidant complex that greens alone don't offer.
When will I feel the benefits?
Many people notice steadier energy within the first two weeks. The deeper changes — recovery, immune support, skin, sleep quality — typically build over one to three months of daily use. Results vary person to person, so give it a full cycle before you judge it.
How is our spirulina shipped?
Orders ship early in the week via 2-day air in an insulated cooler with dry ice to ensure your spirulina arrives frozen solid. We deliver to residential and business addresses, though PO Boxes cannot be accommodated.
How do I handle the dry ice?
When you receive your order, transfer the pods to the freezer immediately. Leave any dry ice in the box to sublimate naturally—don't seal it in a container or dispose of it down the drain.
What is our shipping policy?
Why do you ship early in the week?
We send frozen orders out Monday through Wednesday so they stay cold throughout transit and don't sit in a warehouse over the weekend. This keeps your spirulina pods at peak freshness when they arrive.

Is Inspira 3rd party tested?
Yes. Every batch is tested by third-party, FDA-registered, ISO-certified labs for heavy metals and microbiological contaminants.
BMAA's & microcystins are tested via microscopy daily.
Email us at contact@inspiranutrition.com any time and we'll send you the most recent results — we don't hide our test reports.
Why do we use plastic?
Because potency comes first. Oxygen degrades the delicate antioxidants that make spirulina effective, which is why we chose a food-safe polymer with ultra-low oxygen permeability for our pods. Unlike compostable films that allow oxygen through, our material creates a protective barrier that preserves the nutritional integrity of every dose without heat processing or unnecessary additives.
Can everyone consume fresh frozen spirulina?
Spirulina pods work for most people, including children—simply drop one into juice or a smoothie for an easy way to add nutrition to your routine. However, if you have an autoimmune condition, take blood thinners or immunosuppressants, have phenylketonuria (PKU), are pregnant, or are nursing, consult your healthcare provider before use to ensure it's right for you.
Is there a commitment?
None at all. Skip, reschedule, or cancel any time from your own subscription hub.
Why subscribe?
You get a lower per-pod price, and your rate is grandfathered in even if prices go up later. Subscribers also get first access to new products, restocks, and sales. And since spirulina works on consistency, subscribing means you never run out mid-streak.
How do I order for more than one person?
Each subscription is built around one person taking one pod a day, so just set the quantity to match your household — qty 2 for two people, qty 3 for three. If you need more than that, reach out and ask about our bulk family pricing.
What is our No Taste Guarantee™?
Our spirulina is frozen within minutes of harvest, preserving its clean taste and nutritional integrity. Unlike dried spirulina, which can have a strong pond-like flavor, our frozen pods are mild and undetectable in smoothies or flavored beverages. In plain water, the taste is subtle to none.
Every batch undergoes quality testing before shipment. If your order doesn't meet our standards, reach out to contact@inspiranutrition.com and we'll replace it promptly.
How do I use Inspira Spirulina?
Peel, pop, and drop it into any cold drink — water bottle, juice, smoothie. It melts in on its own in a few minutes, or you can blend it straight from frozen. Because it's completely unprocessed, drink it within six hours of thawing.
Can you cook with it or put it in a hot drink?
You can, but heat degrades the active compounds. Phycocyanin and antioxidants break down quickly when exposed to high temperatures, reducing potency. For maximum benefit, use it cold—blend or melt into smoothies, juice, or water. If cooking, add it at the very end, off the heat, to minimize damage.
How long can you store it?
Up to 12 months in a standard refrigerator freezer, and up to 2 years in a deep manual-defrost freezer. Keep your pods toward the back where the temperature is most stable — never in the door.
Can I refrigerate it?
No — pods need to stay frozen until you're ready to use them. If you're prepping ahead, you can hold one in the fridge for up to 10 hours, though a little flavor may develop. Don't refreeze a pod once it's thawed.
Deep freezer vs. conventional freezer — does it actually matter?
Yes. Standard freezers use automatic defrost cycles that create repeated temperature fluctuations, which gradually breaks down the pod structure and nutrients — that's why we recommend a 12-month shelf life in a conventional freezer. A deep or chest freezer maintains a constant temperature without defrost cycles, preserving the pods much longer and extending shelf life to 2 years.
